My Lovely Vintage Finds in Bangkok

Yes, I love vintage... Vintage cars, vintage Chanel, vintage costume jewelry and sometimes, vintage apparels. I have always been enamored of the 1920's, the epoch full of sophistication, elegance and great sense of style. With my antique taste, I do believe I'm an old soul. Vintage fashion would always stir my curiosity and keep me wondering how the previous owners would glamorously don the lovely pieces.

Since I've been to Bangkok countless times, I have discovered some wonderful vintage places around the city and I wouldn't call it thrifting as these are trendy vintage boutiques. So today's blog, I'm going to show you some of my gorgeous luxury vintage finds.

I. Burberry Scarf and Fendi Hanky.

I got these vintage Burberry scarf and Fendi hanky for US $10 each at Eco Shop in Terminal 21. The Fendi hanky is a perfect bag accessory, use it like a twilly or just tie it around the bag handle. The Burberry, I normally use as a neck scarf and I just love the book print.

II. Karen Millen Dress

The story behind this dress is funny! While out with friends in Bangkok, I needed a scarf badly since that night was a little chilly. Told them I will just look for a cheap scarf on the street but there wasn't. And since we're close to Terminal 21, so I just went there to look for a scarf but I found this dress instead, fell in love and bought it! But I made a lot of changes to this chiffon dress. Bought it for US $50 at Basement of Samantha, a vintage fashion shop in Terminal 21.

This is how the dress looks after I redesigned it.

III. Chanel Travel Line Handbag

You wouldn't believe how much I paid for this CHANEL handbag! I bought it for US $75, it was actually US $100 but I haggled so I got it for that price! And yes, authenticated and it's original! The bag was actually damaged on the bottom part so have to send it at a bag spa to have it repaired but then the outcome is perfect.

Another Elephant Story

Last time, I posted an elephant story about how sweet and smart these animals are. Elephants never forgets for they have an elephantine memory. :)

Elephants are my favorite animal. Aside from looking so huge and cute, seems like these animals can understand.

It was during our trip in Chiang Mai when we went to the Elephant Nature Park. There was an amazing fun elephant show but we were late so when we got there, the show was about to end. Anyway I bought some bananas to feed the elephants. I patiently waited, people were already tipping them, giving money to elephants. The elephants happily took the tip using their trunks and gave it to their trainers/owner.
One elephant saw that I was carrying a bunch of bananas so it came up to me, I gave one banana then suddenly it took all of it from my hands. The bunch of bananas were tied to my wrist so when the elephant grabbed it, it was really painful. I was panicking asking help from the trainer until the tie snapped from my wrist. I really thought I'm going to break my wrist, can you imagine the strength of an elephant???
Anyway, I was hurt and had a lot of scratches on my wrist. The elephant noticed that I was in pain, so instead of getting tip from the people, I think it felt so bad that the elephant focused on me instead. Tapping it's trunk on my head many times like asking ''are you ok?'' It was really cute!!!
I even got a hug when we left. :)

Elephant Nature Park

At Elephant Nature Park, you can buy Elephant food like sugarcane and bananas to feed the elephants.
Since the elephant ate all the banana, I bought 2 extra bunch of bananas and some sugarcane for the other elephants. They were really hungry after the show!

Amazing Thai Elephants

Even though it happened a long time ago, I would still like to share this really incredible thing that occurred to me two years ago when my husband and I holidayed in Thailand. Since we're both animal lovers, we always find time to go to the Zoo or visit Animal farms every time we travel.

It was our first visit to Bangkok Zoo and we could feel excitement is rushing into our bloodstreams to see the animals. The zoo is big and the animals are handled pleasantly.

When I saw signs to the Elephant enclosure, I rushed hurriedly to see them. I just love elephants, they're so adorable and also very smart animals. Did you know that they have sharp memories and they never forget.
In the enclosure, it was an elephant family- the Papa, Mama and a baby elephant.

The elephants approached us directly, looking very happy. In this zoo, they allow people to touch, pet and feed the elephants. On the other side of the enclosure, there's a mini stall that are selling baskets of veggies to feed the elephants so I went there to buy a food basket to give it to them. The moment the baby elephant saw me purchasing the food basket, it ran out of the enclosure and went to me, like bowing down or begging for the food. It was really cute but a little shocked that a baby elephant could do this.
I was quite scared in the beginning but then I realized that these animals are harmless. :)

Baan Thai Cooking School

When we went to Chiang Mai, Thailand last October, my husband and I enrolled in a Thai cooking class. It was a one day course with 5 Thai dishes that includes appetizer, soup, main course, curry and Thai dessert.
There were 3 choices for every dish and you can choose whatever you want to make.We went to the local market in Chiang Mai to see Thai vegetables, spices, seafood and meat. Then we shopped for the recipes of our chosen dishes (paid by the school).... :)

Amazing Chiangmai

My husband wanted to see north of Thailand so one of our holidays, we flew to Bangkok stayed there for a couple of days then took the night train to Chiangmai. Chiangmai is the second biggest city in Thailand. Unlike Bangkok, it's more peaceful and quiet.
We stayed for a week in Chiangmai and believe me, one week is not enough! There are so many things to do in Chiangmai and it's just incredible that this city has actually more to offer than Bangkok! The prices are definitely cheaper too.
We went trekking in the deep jungle, cozied with the tigers, enrolled ourselves in Thai cooking school and saw how silver jewelry and handcrafted souvenirs were made.
